Lingerie Lingerie is a term used for womens underwear that are made from satin, silk, lace, lycra, and nylon. In the first half of the 20th century undergarments were used to improve ones hygiene and add a note of modesty and finery to a womans body. In 1960s the idea of eroticism aroused from lingerie. That was the boom of the so-called sexy lingerie when it became a part of visual stimuli, a pleasure for ones touch and eyes.
1946 is the very year when Frederick Mellinger opened a lingerie shop on Hollywood Boulevard. It was called Fredericks of Hollywood and that was the most popular place where women and their husbands could buy sexy lingerie for their tender bodies. Starting with bras, panties and ending with corsets this shop put sexy in buyers minds. They couldn abstain from buying sexy lingerie and their interest for sensual clothes extremely increased. And that was a revolution! One that made womens bodies revel in finery and sexy garments.
